The purpose of this study was to analyze the color of the Korean natural deciduous
teeth by means of the OFC-1001 DP colorimeter which could measure in Adams
Coordinate System(L, a, b system).
The subjects were the 20 children (12 boys and 8 girls), aged from three to six year,
who had come to infirmary of dental college, Chosun University. The colors of incisal
third, middle third and cervical third of maxillary right deciduous incisor, canine and
second molor were examined after the teeth were cleaned and dried. The data were
analyzed statistically by means of SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Science).
The results were as follows:
1. The means of L (lightness), a (red chromaticity) and b (yellow chromaticity) of all
teeth were measured (Table 2, 3, 4).
2. The color of Korean deciduous teeth was bluish gray or bluish-green gray.
3. The L values of the maxillary right deciduous incisor and canine were greater than
that of maxillary right deciduous second motor.
4. In cervical third, the a value of the maxillary right deciduous incisor was greater
than those of the maxillary right deciduous canine and second molor. In incisal third, the
b value of the maxillary right deciduous canine and second molor.
5. The L values of the cervical third and middle third were greater than that of
incisal third in maxillary right deciduous canine and second molor.
6. The avarage value of a according to region of each tooth were not significant, but
the b value of the cervical third was greater than those of the incisal & middle third in
maxillary right deciduous teeth.
